Beauty Edit : Under R250 - April 2017

It is Friday and I can not think of a better way to celebrate it with a fun post. This is the second post where I picked some products from the Under R250 page from Good Housekeeping. I absolutely adore their magazine and I can not wait for the new one to drop each month. Like I mentioned in my previous under R250 post, this is the first page I turn to (sometimes even before I get to the till to pay). I appreciate the well rounded categories this magazine covers; Personal matters, relationships, beauty, recipes, decor and so many more.

Monthly Favorites and haul posts are my favortite to write, I love taking the photos and the writing just come so much more natural than most other posts. That was till I came up with this series. I can not put in words how excited I am for this series. Now, I unfortunately can not afford all to get all the products on this page (some from last month's page was already in my collection) but this month I picked up everything new. For the past two weeks I have been testing these products out and this is what I think of them.

Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Cream.

This is a very interesting lipstick and I will tell you why in just a second. Let's first talk about the packaging, the frosted glass tube with the matte black cap / lid is a sleek type of look and it enforce that matt feeling. It has got a standard doe foot applicator but I am not so sure why, but for some reason I feel that the applicator picks up too much product. I have found that it is very easy to get a line around the outside edges of your lips when applying this lipstick. It might be a combination of the applicator and the formula because, the formula is a cross between a liquid lipstick and a gel kind of gloss. Pigmentation meets sheerness. That is the best way I can describe it, cause it is very opaque when you apply it but soon after it sheers out a bit, yet it leaves behind a nice subtle stain. Your lips feel comfortable the whole day and I think that is due to the gel feeling. This lipstick take quite a while to dry down, like QUITE a while but when it starts fading it does look matt although it does not feel matt. There are 4 shades in the range and I think I am going to pick up the pink mauve shade.

Lentheric I <3 Musk / Candy

I have not used a body mist or spray in ages, to be honest, I am more of a perfume girl. However, I think these are relatively new and they smell so nice. The I heart candy one makes me think of jelly sweeties, but fresh smelling jelly sweeties. The top notes are fruity and then it settles into an amber bottom note. Then we have the I heart musk spray which has got more florally top notes and settles into a musky bottom note. There are four scents in the range and I picked up three of the four. I find they do not last very long on my skin and they fade quite quickly, but they are lovely to use at night after a refreshing shower, it makes me feel fresh and pretty. I think these are perfect for younger girls.

Cetaphil Oil Control Foam Wash

I am so glad that this was included in the page selection. I have been suffering from oily skin lately, more than usual and I just got rid of the dry patches on my skin. So to me this is all so confusing cause my skin is oily but it has got dry patches. So after using really great products on a regular basis I got rid of the dry patches, but now I look like an oil slick by 11am (a tiny bit of over exaggeration) but you get the picture. When I saw this it was the first item I knew I wanted to try out. I do not think I would have thought to turn to Cetaphil for my oily problem but I am glad I did. As you can see its a 235ml bottle and it will last you ages. You do not need to shake the bottle, I just use two pumps and the foam is so soft and gentle on my skin. I do not feel that it strips the natural oils from my skin, but I can definitely see a difference when I apply and wear my foundation. This is a very interesting product and I am looking forward to using this some more. Please let me know if you would like to read a full review.

These are all the goodies I tested out. Let me know if you tried them before and what you thought of them or comment below if you are interested in picking up one of the other products, even if its not one I got.

Love ya
Melanie

  1. I love Cetaphil products - but I hardly buy them lol. Those fragrance sprays sounds fun - I will try the Vanilla one cause I'm obsessed with smelling like vanilla.

    1. Hi my friend, thank you for stopping by.
Cetaphil is very underrated in the blogger sphere. I enjoy the perfume versions of the sprays, Unfortunately the vanilla is not my favorite.

  2. I love catrice because they're so affordable! I haven't yet tried the velvet matte lip cream so I'm definitely going to have to do that soon! x

This lippie is awesome and comfortable and I am truly considering picking up the mauve shade as well. Not that I need another mauve shade or another lipstick. #makeupaddict
